AI-generated and deterministic output
Naming candidates, rationales, ranking commentary, and research summaries may use hosted models through OpenRouter. Models can be incomplete, repetitive, or wrong. When hosted generation fails or is unavailable, NamingSignal may use a deterministic starting set; the interface and API label fallback instead of presenting it as model output.
Scores and rankings
Scores are decision aids, not objective truth. Explainable product-fit dimensions, AI editorial rank, founder-entered resonance, availability evidence, and hard blockers are deliberately separated. A numerical score cannot clear a trademark, erase a direct collision, or establish cultural suitability.
Domain, namespace, and namesake evidence
Registry RDAP not-found is described as likely unregistered only under the calibrated policy. It is not a guarantee that a registrar can sell the domain, that the price is acceptable, or that use is lawful. Exact namespace checks do not establish broad confusion clearance. Search results and absent exact matches require human interpretation.
Registrar and third-party links
Registrar, app-store, package, code-host, search, and government links open third-party sites so the user can perform a current manual check. NamingSignal does not control their data, price, policy, or outcome and does not complete a purchase, registration, filing, or contact action.
As of this effective date, NamingSignal's registrar links do not contain an affiliate or referral identifier and Zena Labs LLC does not receive compensation for those click-outs. If that changes, the relationship and any ranking influence will be disclosed here and near the relevant link.
Ownership and editorial independence
NamingSignal is a product of Zena Labs LLC. Research pages are based on the product's documented methods, tested failure cases, and cited external sources. Commercial relationships will not convert an unknown result into availability or silently change candidate ranking.
